Within the framework of FarmRas, sustainable agriculture is directly tied to practical actions towards ensuring sustainable farming in order to ensure the wellbeing of farmers and the environment at large. In this respect, the FarmRas initiative takes into account several practical measures, such as the evaluation of the state of soils, water usage, crop productivity, waste production, and farmer participation to determine where farming can become more effective and sustainable. Moreover, FarmRas identifies other possibilities associated with rural allied activities, including beekeeping, nurseries, poultry, food processing, among others.
